It seems as though Monday is coming around faster and faster lately. Anyone else feeling this? Man, life can slow down at any time!!
- Iowa State Basketball is back! Will anyone give me a WOOHOO?? The world seems right again now that my Cyclones are back playing ball on the hardwood! This past 6 months has been a rough one for us Cyclones after Fred Hoiberg announced that he was leaving, but the new coach, Steve Prohm, seems to be proving himself so far! It’s neat to watch the games now and know that R got a chance to attend camp and work with them this summer. He worked closely with Jameel McKay and that’s pretty darn cool!
- A weekend at home! Holy cow! I actually got a whole weekend at home. I was supposed to attend the Minnesota Bloggers conference on Saturday, but a couple weeks ago something in my gut was telling me to stay home, so I sold my ticket and it’s a good thing I did. T ended up having to work (still NH3 season) and it was our weekend with the boys, so I was in charge of meals, getting them where they needed to be, and being home for them (on top of the normal weekend chores). Honestly, I’m so glad that I did. While I know that we have awesome parents (the boys’ grandparents) who would have helped us out, I’m so glad that I was the one who was here. They are growing so fast and in 4 short years, R will be out of the house…I want to be the one here with them now!
- NH3 Season brings heartaches for our family. While we fully support T and his job and the farmers that give him a job, it also means that there are heartaches for our family. For example, T worked pretty much all day and into the evening on Saturday (meaning he got up at 5:30AM) and all of Sunday morning. This means he doesn’t get to see the boys much and it means things we had planned (attending a family bachelor and bachelorette party) doesn’t happen! Those times are tough, but we get through them knowing they are short lived. It also means I’m baking and cooking up a storm again! (See THIS post if you don’t know what I’m talking about!)
- Iowa Weather rocks. Yup, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Iowa weather rocks…or at least it does right now! It’s mid-November and we’re still hitting temps of almost 60 during the day! That is almost unheard of! Now, I know the cold, ice, and snow are coming, but honestly…I’ll still say it then! I don’t think I could live somewhere that I didn’t get to experience all 4 seasons!
- I love to cook and bake. If you haven’t figured it out already, cooking and baking is probably my most favorite hobby (after running), so I won’t apologize if you see more and more recipes here! 🙂 (I made a very yummy breakfast with these three ingredients –> Head to my Facebook page to see what it was!
Have a fantastic week everyone, love your family, hold them close, and make it a good one!
Of course the weather in Iowa is amazing since we moved. 🙂 Glad you got some boy time this weekend –it is so true that they will be grown and gone before you know it. Hang on to every second.
I’ve really been struggling the last couple months with how fast time is going and how fast they are growing! I needed this weekend!
I’m glad that you were home and got to be there for the boys. And I can’t believe how nice the weather has been, but I have a feeling that winter coats will be coming out soon which is fine with me. I can’t believe I went all harvest with never putting on a winter coat to tell you the truth!
Thank you for your kind words. This fall has been amazing and I fear the winter coming! Haha!
Horchata is one of my favorite drinks ever. I saw Val was cooking with it too. Since I can get A &E here, I think I’ll try adding it to coffee. When I worked at a coffee shop in Fargo, I loved mixing horchata and coffee.
Yum! That does sound good!
